The Artists’ Tūī
Client: AOTEAROA MUSIC AWARDS / RECORDED MUSIC NZ
2017 - 2021
Project management
The Aotearoa Music Awards’ trophy - the Tūī - was first unveiled in 1996, designed by Nicola Marshall. Over the years the trophy has had some updates, but effectively remained the same gold trophy. In 2017 we were given a brief to put the trophy centre stage and create further publicity for the awards beyond just the event itself.
The concept was to work with well-known creatives to reimagine the Tūī, putting their own unique twist on the iconic shape.
In the three iterations to date we have worked with pop artist Dick Frizzell, jewellery designer Boh Runga and Wēta Workshop’s Sir Richard Taylor.
