The client wanted to continue with the wood & resin form that we created the previous year but give it a new twist.

Thematically, we built this around the concept of ‘The Creative Fire’. The Creative Fire is a term coined by the renowned Jungian analyst, author, and storyteller Clarissa Pinkola Estés. She famously asserted that you are an artist based on your soul and inner burning, entitling you to the title long before you ever produce a single piece of work.

Her work goes on further to explore the rhythm of the creative life, overcoming the negative complexes and psychic log-jams that prey upon creative energy, and demonstrating techniques to unlock inspiration and tap directly into the source of creative power.”

The taonga presented to this year’s AMA winners are individually crafted from totara and resin with no two Tūī the same.
